It…happens…every…time. Just when I think: “Hey. I believe I’ve had my fill of World of Warcraft” – BlizzCon arrives and another expansion gets announced and I quickly realise – I am never going to be done with this game.
That cinematic though, holy shit!
“You think you do, but you don’t.”
There was a time where Blizzard flat out rejected the possibility of classic/vanilla style servers ever becoming a thing, claiming that recreating the game as it was would be incredibly time consuming. This of course, did not fit well with a large portion of the Warcraft fan base as many players longed to re-live the game in its infant days. Private servers often tried to re-create the game as it was back then, often drawing huge crowds wanting to give the classic WoW experience a go. The problem with private servers are that they usually suffer from poor management, clients being too unstable/buggy or Blizzard Entertainment filing for cease and desist as privately owned servers violates the company’s intellectual property.
However. At this year’s BlizzCon, Blizzard Entertainment had quite a surprise for its fans. Not only did they announce a new expansion, but they also announced something else…
It’s safe to say, the day I finally quit the game is likely not happening any time soon…
